This is an introduction of a new programme for intermediate and advanced students of the English language, who are preparing for their TOEFL, Michigan or Cambridge exams. The most important part of the exams for foreign students are the 'listening comprehension' and tests in 'fluency in spoken English'..... which are integrated in the exams.

I have chosen a system where students will have direct contact with me, who will act as a 'speaker', members of the group will receive direct individual phone calls (via radio) and a conversation will be carried online during a period of at least 12 (twelve minutes) per day, from Mondays till Fridays, with a total of approximately 240 minutes per month.

This programme is viable for those who have the NEXTEL phone. I will make a direct call from my phone, suggesting issues which may be discussed and I will also suggest reading materials and URLs for 'homework'. This daily contact, five times per week will improve the listening skills of the students and also encourage them to practise their spoken English online with the 'speaker' or with fellow students who are in the same group.

For those who are interested in this educational project, please get in touch with me this week, you may send an e-mail to:

If you have a NEXTEL radio connection, please inform me, next week I'll post my number in this column.

There will be a monthly fee for those who want to join the group, but during the trial period, from next week till mid-August, the cost is free.

Let's listen to and speak English online, with a really mobile tool. Your fluency in spoken English will improve rapidly. [A.R.]
